I wanted to make a fixed “page” to give you a short history of what I have done up until now to manage FMS.  Starting about a year ago I cut out all beef and as much processed foods a practical. Let’s stop for a moment – I am a mother of 3 boys who hates to cook and couldn’t keep a plant alive if my life depended on it, and I dislike most veggies.  So going all vegan-gluten-processed-free was not happening. Thankfully I have Fibromyalgia and not Celiac Disease.

A good dinner, when I’m cooking usually consisted of hamburger helper. So I started out on a smaller scale. I could change *my* diet. I could start with what I eat for lunch.  So I did. Over the past year these changes have grown into the diets of everyone over the family.  Once you learn what to eat, how to make stuff (really most healthy stuff is easier to make than you would imagine), it is not a big deal. So don’t get overwhelmed. Just start with one meal a day, then make it two. Sometimes that means that I am eating something differently than the rest of my family, but that’s okay.  Quite honestly, after a couple of months when my energy went up and pain went down, and I realized what these foods were doing to me, I lost my appetite for them completely.  I can still eat chicken and pork without any adverse affects but I try to be picky about what I buy with even that. As my awesome doctor says “make meat the accessory to the meal”.

So after a month of no-beef, low-processed food intake I started to feel better. After 90 days it was a huge difference!  Also, losing 20 lbs was pretty awesome too.  I was much, much better but still far from pain-free.  So fast forward a year to January 2013.   If you want to try to do exactly what I did for a better chance of the same results here is what I did:

Step1: Diet Change

Step 2: Detox.  I did this with a “raindrop in a bottle” blend that I put on my feet every night.  I did not have any ill effects of the detox but it makes some people very tired.  There are many ways to detox, especially with Young Living. So find what works for you and do that.

Step 3: Oil.  Actually, I started out with using what I had: Thieves, Peppermint, Rosemary, Orange.  I literally had overnight success.  I hope and pray that everyone is able to experience that. To apply oils and wake up pain-free!  I continued with Raindrop in a Bottle on my feet every night and this mix of other oils until *my* oil order came in.  That’s when I started using “Songbird Blend“.

So that’s it.  You are up to date of the first BLOG entry.  I continue to play with the recipe because I want an oil blend that not only fights the pain but also the fatigue. You can take a pill for the pain but nothing cures the fatigue.  I am simultaneously working on a blend for sleep.  Young Living already has a supplement called “Sleep Essence”. It’s something I recommend trying. I did not have any luck with it but I probably should have been taking two at a time instead of one. Because sleep is such a challenge in FMS I’m wondering if we don’t need something very specific. So I will continue to experiment and update as I discover new things.
